Density

What is density?

In general the density of an object decides if the object can swim on top of the water or will sink.

Two components define the amount of density an object has: mass and volume.

In this case the volume defines the size and the mass defines the weight of the object.

To make it easier to understand you have to imagine two objects with the exact same size but with different weights.

For example you can think about a pencil and a pen. Both can have the exact same size but the pen weighs more.

The pen will sink faster into the water than the pencil, because even if they have the same size the pen weighs more and has a higher density.

Also it does work the other way around. Imagine you have a big pencil which weighs 10 gram and a small screw which also weighs 10 gram.
The small screw will sink into the water while the pencil will float, because even if they have the same weight the screw is smaller and has a higher density.
